About the Item

"Smoke Break" is a visually striking and intellectually challenging painting that combines pop culture references with childhood nostalgia. At the center of the canvas, the phrase "That's all Folks" – a catchphrase used to end many classic cartoons – looms large, potentially symbolizing the end of something or a sense of closure. The blurred text at the top, "Smoke Break Joke," adds a layer of humor to the work and may be interpreted as the artist poking fun at the concept of a "smoke break" or using it as a metaphor for something else. The presence of a target, a distorted Mickey Mouse, crosses, cacti, and Campbell's cans all contribute to the dense symbolism of the painting and encourage the viewer to decipher their meanings. Additionally, the reference to the style of artist George Condo adds another layer of complexity to the work, as Condo is known for creating highly symbolic and surrealist pieces. Overall, "Smoke Break" is a multifaceted and thought-provoking artwork that invites the viewer to delve into its many symbols and layers of meaning. Instant Society Street Art Basquiat Style
Located in OIA, ES
"Nestcafe Society" and Corporate Ideals A striking painting by Diego Tirigall prompts deep thoughts about the relationship between appearances and reality. The painting features a rough sketch of a well-known instant coffee brand logo with words "N3stcafe Society" beneath it. This serves as a powerful symbol of the illusions that society and corporate ideals can create. The Illusion of High-Quality Coffee The painting highlights the gap between the promise of high-quality coffee and the reality of mass-produced, preservative-filled coffee packaged in an industrial jar. The large axe that cuts through the words "N3stcafe Society" symbolizes the destruction of these false promises and the consequences of pretending to be something one is not. The red coffee jar...

Basquiat at Tony Shafrazi gallery 1996 (Basquiat Dust Heads announcement)
By Jean-Michel Basquiat
Located in NEW YORK, NY
Jean-Michel Basquiat A TRIBUTE: Important Paintings, Drawings, & Objects: Vintage original 1990s Basquiat announcement card to: Jean-Michel Basquiat at Tony Shafrazi Gallery, New York, September 21 - November 23, 1996. Cover image features a reproduction of Basquiat's Dust Heads (1982). Off-set printed gallery announcement. 7.5 x 6.25 inches (folded closed). Very good overall vintage condition. Some light rub marks to reverse. Published by Tony Shafrazi Gallery, New York, 1996. Unsigned from an edition of unknown. Jean-Michel Basquiat’s dramatic life and iconic paintings—which variously feature obsessive scribbling, enigmatic symbols and diagrams, and iconography including skulls, masks, and the artist’s trademark crown—make him one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. The self-taught painter embraced graffiti before committing to a studio practice. He found a mentor and friend in Andy Warhol, who helped the young artist navigate the 1980s New York art world. Across his oeuvre, Basquiat drew on his own Caribbean heritage; a convergence of African American, African, and Aztec cultural histories; classical themes; and pop cultural figures including athletes and musicians. The immediacy and intellectual depth of his paintings won him widespread acclaim both before and after his untimely death at the age of 27. Related Categories Basquiat Bruno Bischofberger.
