Emmanuelle Vroelant
Born in 1952, Emmanuelle Vroelant has been living and working in Roscoff, Brittany since 2006. Despite a real attraction for artistic creation, her parents encouraged her to study. After graduating in psychology, she leaves to discover the world and it is far from the family weight that she gives life to her first child. She moved to Vanuatu where she met artist Juan Roderta and journalist Alphonso Colondro. These two men allow a real questioning of the artist who discovers the need to paint. On her return to Paris, she opened her first studio in 1981 and ended up exhibiting in 1985, 86, 88 and 89 at the Grand Palais Autumn Show, allowing her to start an international career. After two years of illness, Emmanuelle lost her inspiration and opened a psychoanalyst practice in Paris, where she practised art therapy. In 2006, she left her Parisian life to settle in Brittany, which allowed her to regain a creative energy. At the request of collector Michel Chamming’s, Emmanuelle successfully exhibited in Paris in 2009. During the inauguration of a New York gallery, she meets Jean-Claude Reumont who offers her to represent her for China. Today, Emmanuelle Vroelant’s works are present in the United States, China and France.

My Dear Lady
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
The eagle, a symbol of strength, freedom, and keen observation, has been revered across cultures and throughout history. With its piercing eyes, commanding presence, and unparalleled aerial prowess, it embodies the beauty and grace of nature. In "My Dear Lady," Bright Toh ingeniously combines the eagle's regal qualities with the elegance and vulnerability of the human form, seamlessly merging the earthly and the ethereal.
One cannot help but be immediately drawn to the artwork's vibrant color palette. Bright Toh's deliberate choice of bold hues, such as royal blues, fiery reds, and golden yellows, electrifies the composition and infuses it with energy. The image depicts a human figure with an elephant head, which is holding a bunch of bananas on her head, and backing a baby with the head of an antelope. The vibrant colors of the artwork immediately grab the viewer's attention, creating a joyful and playful atmosphere. The baby antelope's head on the human body evokes a sense of innocence and purity, while the elephant's head with its tusk represents strength and power.
However, upon closer inspection, the artwork reveals itself to be more than just a whimsical image. The title of the artwork, "Queen Kong," is a play on the popular character King Kong, which is known for its immense strength and power. The artwork portrays the queen as an epitome of strength, carrying a bunch of bananas, which symbolizes her ability to provide for her family.
The artwork also celebrates the beauty of diversity and unity. The fusion of animal and human forms represents the interconnectedness of all living beings. The baby with the head of an antelope symbolizes the innocence and beauty of nature, while the human body signifies our ability to adapt and evolve as a species. The elephant head represents the strength and wisdom of the animal kingdom, reminding us of the importance of protecting and preserving the natural world.
The bright colors of the artwork also carry significant meaning. The vivid hues of blue, and pink evoke a sense of joy and vitality, creating a whimsical and playful atmosphere.
