Esther Oyeyemi is a distinctive multidisciplinary contemporary artist who bridges personal memory and universal themes. Born in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, in April 1995, her passion for art was evident from a young age, leading her to experiment with diverse mediums of expression. Esther's art profoundly explores dualism, identity, and memory, often reflecting her childhood experiences. She uses acrylics to craft vivid narratives that blur the boundaries between the tangible and the intangible, inviting viewers to engage with the dialogue between the subconscious and the environment. Esther holds a Nigerian Certificate in Education in painting and graphic arts from Emmanuel Alayande College of Education and a Bachelor's degree in Fine and Applied Arts Education from Obafemi Awolowo University. Her work has been featured in several exhibitions, including the Lasgidi Art Exhibition, the Art Arising Virtual Exhibition by Alliance51, and the Life in My City Art Festival, where she emerged among the top 100 Nigerian artists in 2022. She also participated in a virtual group exhibition at Harmer Gallery, London, in 2023. Currently residing in Oyo State, Esther's art bridges her personal journey and collective human experiences.

In this series of works - “Boy - Dancer”, Gallery Kolkata revisits the artists very popular and well lauded ‘Boy Dancer’ suite of paintings on the plight of traditional Gopitua dancers from his native land, Odisha.
The boy dancers who perform a devotional dance ritual are quickly declining in today’s cosmopolitan world. Pani entwines his empathy for the dying art with an opinion on our post-Modern era. In that respect, Pani does not try to create nostalgia for the decline in the taste for the dancers, instead he problematizes the issue by bringing in a dispassionate view of the issue.
The ten canvases on display in this exhibition, features the Gopitua dancers in different situations.
The canvases are a hyper-real portrait, far & close shots of a Gopitua dancers with liquid innocent eyes and a small smile playing upon his lips as he confronts the viewer. The blade is a recurring motif in Pani’s work and it has multiple functions and meanings. In this instance its meaning is rather clear — one where modernity eclipses tradition.
Style : His fresh, perspective and contemporary canvases have loud and vivid images and use colors like green and shocking pink unashamedly. Pani says his works are preoccupied with exploring contemporary materials, culture and current lives of people, the negligence of local places, their culture, history, memory and their identity in present times.
Further he feels the consumerist attitude has penetrated deep into the human psyche. Human beings are being consumed by the commodity rather than them consuming it. In his works, Pani explore the struggles, contradictions, dichotomies and critical reflections of the embodied selves with changes in value, knowledge and culture in our present society.
“I have extensively used body parts like brain, heart and other organs, and everyday objects like capsule, syringe, blade etc to create a new visual language. Deriving from life experiences, my idea is to create a new vision by the juxtaposition of the above experience with the rich legacy, diverse visual culture and sensibility of the vast tradition of Odisha’s miniatures and Pata paintings, stone carvings, monumental visuals of temples and dance forms like Gopitua dance and Chhau-dance in Odisha.”
Pani, thus attempts to create a new phenomenology and the reinvention of ‘self’ in a globalized and yet very localized world.

The paintings are painted with acrylic paints on canvas. My heroine is a woman in a red dress.
The paintings in this series are fascinating to collectors and found a home in many countries.
Pop art paintings are loved by many. I also really like to remember funny comic book characters. They all meet with my heroine Lipochka.
Pop art paintings are a great opportunity to invest in painting successfully.

STYLE : Anil Kumar Yadav is an Artist from Kolkata who was born in 1984 a village in Uttar Pradesh. He grew up among villagers with modest lives and the village culture. The Rangolis at the village festival and the local potters’ fine works of art inspired him greatly towards art as a hobby and potential career from early childhood.
His father was then posted to Kolkata so their family relocated to the city. Once the capital of India, with its rich cultural heritage and character immediately caught my attention. He started painting for the first time in the city.
Since the central theme to his paintings is related to present day society, his works appear photographic or naturalistic. The religious ghats of Varanasi, Haridwar and other antique places attracted him for their cultural heritage characterised by the holy saints, antique architectures, old idol sculptures and mysticism, spirituality. So he portrayed the simplicity of the architectural doors, temples, sculptures and the beautiful narrow streets and ‘galis’ which holds beauty that can not be described in words.
He always prefers a highly realistic approach in his paintings for whatever he sees in his surroundings. He started to represent paintings in a form whose expression manifests a step ahead of photography. He has always tried to reach to a horizon where photography cannot reach and make a statement what is called hyperrealism.
