Eva O’Donovan "Beatrice" Contemporary Oil Painting on Fabric of Girl with Bubble Gum2021
2021
About the Item

Painted with oil on unique DG Fabric, the artist has created a wonderful statement with an edgy and elegant composition. It is signed by the artist lower right and comes displayed with hanging wire on verso.
Art Measures 39 x 29 inches
Eva O’Donovan is a Dublin based contemporary artist. Her work is a marriage of two passions, fashion and interiors. Eva’s portraits in oil are modern and timeless. Inspired by fashion magazines, her subjects are usually adapted from behind-the-scenes fashion show shoots, the poses reminiscent of Haute Couture editorials.
All aspects of femininity are embraced in her striking portraits. The wonderfully intricate pieces entice the viewer, emanating strength, as well as a sense of elegance and modernity. Eva obtained her Fine Art degree as a mature student at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD). Her highly sought-after pieces are popular amongst interior designers and feature in many private and commercial collections throughout Ireland, United Kingdom, Brazil, Iceland, United States of America and Germany.
Eva’s work embraces two main interests, interiors and fashion. These elements are prominent attributes which define her work. The patterned textiles refer to life, the domestic, heritage, era and taste of our times. Textiles furnish both the homes we live in and the clothes we wear, while textile designs pass from one world into the other. Trends ebbing and flowing, documenting social and economic movements are the very essence of the domestication which is displayed through fabric. Integrated into our everyday lives, they change with time, historically mapping the passage of one’s life. Similarly, fashion also tells the story of our lives. It encompasses eras, represents social standings and of course, augments individual personalities. The very nature of fashion presents statuesque women. They are at the forefront, modelling the designs from fashion houses and mapping the passage of taste and time. Eva’s work embodies these very notions with every brush stroke, as she finds the balance of these worlds effortlessly; marrying art and fashion in a most striking yet enigmatic way, leaving us room to fill in and write the rest of the story with our own imagination.

From GUCCI in Wonderland series
GUCCI in Wonderland series contains two parts.
First one, GUCCI in wonderland, is an inspiration that came to John Paul Fauves after doing a 10 piece collection of some Alessandro Michele art campaigns.
There was so much magic realism in the GUCCI brand and concept that transcended from being a clothing label to something more surreal. It is here when the artist decides to give a hold to his new collection for 2018 named "holy exit" and dive into this new world of colors and wonders.
The second part, Alice in Wonderland, represents the artist a world of fantasy and dreams. It seems as if the author Lewis Caroll could write like a dream.
The same concept of surrealism is what FAUVES feels about Gucci design and branding. It as if Gucci can design and create form the world of dreams, and this is what the artist wants to represent in his art GUCCI in wonderland.
ABOUT John Paul FAUVES:
John Paul Fauves (born in 1980) is a contemporary Artist from Costa Rica . His artistic journey started at a very young age after he became a student of Joaquin Rodriguez del Paso , one of the most important Costa Rican modern art tutors. John Paul spent 15 years studying and mastering his technique, and only a few years ago he finally started showcasing his work.
In his paintings he engages questions of identity as they relate to art history as well as our everyday interactions with mainstream culture and social media. Greatly inspired by modernist masters as wellas pop-artists, Fauves mixes fragments of different iconic images in vivid and colourful compositions. Of his experimental and high eclectic style, he says, “art is an expression from the soul, and the soul is somethinglimitless. This is why I am always searching for different elements to bring into the work.”

"Alts iz farloyrn" ("All is lost")
"Alts iz Farloyrn” – the latest series by John Paul Fauves featuring large-scale mixed media paintings, sculptures, and his famous art masks.
Inspired by American idols James Dean and Steve McQueen, "Alts iz Farloyrn,” which translates to "All is Lost," was Steve McQueen’s first ever line on stage and represents Fauves own struggle with losing it all yet discovering his true self. “Alts iz Farloyrn” dives deep into the darkness that surrounded James Dean and Steve McQueen and explores their need to live fast. Through this new series, viewers are reminded that although both men overcame challenges to become the Hollywood elite, they struggled to mentally escape their troubled childhood and demons.
Recognized internationally for his Neo-Pop Expressionism, Fauves paintings deal with identity through art, mainstream culture and social media. About this series, Fauves says “I have personally lost it all and what I’ve learned is when you lose it all you can win it all again and create a new beginning!”
