About the Item

Fereydoon Omidi - Iranian painter born in May 1967-Roudbar-Iran went to art school in Graphic design. In my youth, I began to learn different skills of painting. I went to Azad University, central branch of Tehran in 1989 to continue my education in painting, and since then, I have tried to show my own experience in painting. I received my master degree in painting in 1998, and since then, I have been teaching at the university and along with my own painting. I love painting and enjoy other arts. Because art can path to a better life, a new quality and refinement of the human spirit which leads to a better quality of one’s life. I can picture my thoughts and imaginations, and since I am an experimentalist, how to use tools and mediums has always been a major concern. Coincidence , is something that I welcome in my works and I love to create an art work which is more exciting, enjoyable and entertaining, and I firmly believe that speed would affect the performance with more special quality. I have always noticed the new methods of Calligraphy as an independent art and always been interested in knowing pioneer artists of this field ; those who experienced new methods themselves. In Calligraphy works, I’m seeking methods to improve my works professionally and I’ve always noticed on how to incorporate Persian calligraphy with contemporary technics in painting to manifest new methods. I am working with oil colors on canvas with high volume paints using painting-knife. Most paintings that I’ve done, after creating letters, I’ve tried to disfigure the original format and transform them from their initial decorative shapes. Some of my works hold more decorative ways of technics , and the brightness of used mediums can allocate more exceptional characteristics to the art works. The most important thing for me in my paintings is to shock the viewers at first sight, amuse them in the next stage and play its pulling visual power through repetition in rhythm of lines. I have always dreamt of big works and love different technics and colors in my work experience, the technics which could make our living space more stylized. In the contemporary world, an artist does not work without the influence of his surrounding , therefore, the events around him can affect him and his works. Calligraphy and handwriting are abstract elements. They are known as a sign and they are demonstrated in some forms of it by “ Siah-Mashgh” through repetition and creation of rhythm. Linear forms of repetition , accumulation and dispersion of letters on a time or together, would create rhythm and motion and it has its own rhythm and some other places the rhythm of repeating lines, establishes motifs and thickness, and application of paints would add to the consistency of form and having hollow space and prominent lines would add to the depth and dimension of the art work.
