Biografia del artista:
Francesc Gironés fue un pintor de Poblenou del que se sabe poco, se cree que nació en 1904 y murió en 1997. Fue uno de los primeros en pintar la emblemática Torre de les Aigües y su estilo derivó hacia un cubismo surrealista próximo al lenguaje mágico de Dau a Set, pero siempre muy personal.
Había tenido un estudio en la calle Pere IV y compartía su actividad pictórica con su trabajo diseñando estampados en la empresa textil del barrio, Can Ponsa. Debido a la enfermedad de su mujer, tuvo que dejar su estudio y desde entonces pintaba en su casa de la calle Recaredo (hoy desaparecida), en un ambiente recreado por su joven amigo, el pintor Gonçal Sobré, que lo consideraba un "surrealista de barrio".
