Contemporary figure study of a classical Greek sculpture of a supine man, depicted with expressive brushstrokes on a bold, deep red background, by UK-based Filipino artist Francis Tanseco (Filipino, b.20th Century). Signed and dated "Tanseco 2010" lower left. Signed, dated, and titled "Series 'Perfect Empire' #4" on verso. Unframed. Image size: 30"H x 24"W.
A contemporary Filipino artist based in the UK, Francis Tanseco was born in Catbalogan, Samar, Philippines. He studied at Concordia College, Manila. A registered nurse, dancer, artist and has been active as a painter since 2002. His paintings were exhibited at the Philippine Embassy in London in July 2012. He moved to the US around 2014. Exhibited 2010 at the Philippine Consulate.
The series “Perfect Empire” was inspired from Greek statues during a trip he took to Athens.
