Figurative painting of a couple by contemporary Hungarian artist Gabor Rosko.
Oil on panel, 72 x 72 cm. Signed and dated on verso "RG GR 1987-2001"
Gábor Roskó (1958), a graduate of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, began his artistic career in the early 1980s. In addition to his graphic and ceramic work, he broke into the Hungarian cultural public consciousness early on with his extremely unique painting. Allegories and irony play an important role in his works. Among Roskó's subjectively selected historical and visual references, we find ancient animal tales, Jewish tradition, and elements of the Near and Far East cultures.
His works have been featured in exhibitions at the New Museum in New York, the Ludwig Museum, Cologne Germany, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Budapest, the Hungarian National Gallery, the Műcsarnok, the Budapest Gallery, as well as the Contemporary Art Institute in Dunaújváros, the Szent István Király Museum in Székesfehérvár Szent, István Király Museum in Székesfehérvár, Hungary among many others.
