About the Item

This striking original work on paper, Barn Side with Sliding Doors, is a masterful example of mid-20th century American modernist landscape art by acclaimed artist and educator George Vander Sluis (1915–1984). Created using oil stick on paper, the composition captures the rustic charm of rural Americana with a strong sense of form and color. The artwork features a gray weathered barn with two windows and bold, graphic red-and-white sliding doors, all rendered in a harmonious balance of structure and natural beauty. Vander Sluis’s modernist sensibility and painterly technique elevate this pastoral subject, transforming a simple barn facade into a quietly powerful image. Professionally presented in a custom black frame, the piece measures 23 x 27 x ⅞ inches overall, with a sight size of 12 ¾ x 17 inches. The work is in very good vintage condition, with vivid colors and no visible flaws. For a detailed condition report, please contact us directly.
