Colorato piccolo studio di mamma e bambina Gleb SAVINOV (Kharkiv prov., Ucraina 1915 – San Pietroburgo 2000) Gleb Alexandrovich Savinov, unanimamente considerato uno dei principali rappresentanti della Scuola di pittura di Leningrado, è nato in Ucraina e ha trascorso parte della sua infanzia a Saratov. Suo padre, Alexander Ivanovich Savinov (1881-1942), talentuoso pittore, disegnatore e insegnante, era professore all’Accademia di Belle Arti. Nel 1922 la famiglia si trasferisce da Saratov a Pietrogrado. Dal 1928 al 1930 Savinov lavora nello studio del padre mentre ancora frequenta la scuola. Nel 1934, dopo essersi diplomato, si iscrive all’Accademia di Leningrado, dove studia con Alexander Osmerkin. Nel 1940 si laurea e sposa la compagna di classe e artista Olga Bogaevskaja: questa felice unione famigliare e creativa durerà sessant’anni. Dal 1940 Gleb Savinov partecipa a numerose mostre esponendo ritratti, quadri storici e di genere, paesaggi, scene d’interni e nature morte. Presta servizio durante la Grande Guerra e nel 1944 diventa membro dell’Unione degli Artisti Sovietici. Dal 1945 al 1947 Savinov insegna all’Istituto Repin e dal 1949 al 1979 all’Istituto Vera Mukhina, dove dal 1969 è professore di pittura. Nel 1973 è insignito del titolo di Artista Emerito dell’Urss. Numerose le prestigiose mostre cui ha partecipato nel corso della carriera, in Russia e all’estero. Gleb Savinov appartiene alla generazione di artisti i cui destini hanno coinciso con gli eventi storici che hanno sconvolto la Russia nel XX secolo e dai quali, umanamente e professionalmente, sono stati inevitabilmente segnati. Entrato all’Accademia nel 1934, si forma sulle opere classiche russe ed europee, ma sviluppa da subito e riesce a conservare nel tempo uno sguardo personale e originale sul mondo. Filtrati dall’occhio pittorico di Savinov, soggetti apparentemente banali diventano unici, momenti quotidiani appaiono rari, l’ordinario è straordinario e infatti, pur essendo un artista politematico, il genere in cui dimostra un’eccezionale abilità nel rappresentare pienamente la vita è paradossalmente il cosiddetto “piccolo genere”: scene di vita familiare e interni che sottolineano il dono di Savinov di saper trovare la bellezza nelle cose semplici e quotidiane. Non sono ovviamente da meno i paesaggi, delicati en plein air, spesso con figure così armoniosamente inserite nel contesto da aumentarne la liricità. Lo stile è pulito, piano ed elegante.
