Gossel's show honored 8 deceased male musicians: Price, George Michael, Johnny Cash, Tupac Shakur, Tom Petty, Elvis, Bob Marley, David Bowie & Kurt Cobain. Gossel created 10 LP's for each artist, each a unique artwork. Each LP is priced at $500, and can be purchased in sets with discounts for multiples. Please email the gallery to confirm availability. “Face the Music” A solo exhibition by Wisconsin-based artist Greg Gossel, featuring over 100 new original works on canvas and vintage LPs. The artist explores themes of creation, inspiration and loss through a series of vibrant pop portraits featuring an eclectic selection of musicians who are no longer with us. Aesthetically, Gossel continues to push his signature mixed-media approach with brightly colored large-scale works on canvas, and delves into new territory with an expansive series on repurposed vinyl records. A collage of vintage tabloids and discarded comic book pages act as a base for the brightly colored layers of spray paint, acrylic, and silkscreen ink - creating an exhibition of iconic portraits that are instantly recognizable, while simultaneously offering an intricate depth for those who delve below the surface. Greg Gossel was born in 1982 in western Wisconsin. With a background in design, his work is an expressive interplay of many diverse words, images, and gestures. Gossel’s multi-layered work illustrates a visual history of change and process that simultaneously features and condemns popular culture. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. and abroad, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Copenhagen, and Japan. His commercial clients include Chivas Regal, KFC, Levi’s, American Express, Hyundai, Burton Snowboards, and Interscope Records; and has been published widely, including The San Francisco Chronicle and Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine. Greg currently resides in Trimbelle, Wisconsin.
