About the Item

Gregory Block's (US based) "The Lily Pond" is an original, handmade oil painting on canvas that measures 48 x 96 inches and is unframed but ready to hang. About the Artist: Gregory was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1986 and moved to Colorado at an early age. During his childhood, he attended a Waldorf school where he discovered a love of painting, sculpture, music, and the natural world. He continued to develop his skills as an artist and musician throughout high school and painted whenever he could while earning his BA in biology at Colorado College. As a student, he made a conscious decision not to take any painting courses or adopt a mentor, opting instead to learn through experimentation and scrutiny of paintings by artists he admired. After graduating in 2009, he devoted his studies to painting and has since gained recognition as "one of the most promising young artists in the representational art world" (Fine Art Today). He lives in Denver, Colorado.

Chatfield, Oil Painting
By Daniel Sprick
Located in Denver, CO
Daniel Sprick's "Chatfield" envelopes the viewer in the silent beauty of winter's embrace, kissed by the hues of days end. About the artist: "Upon first glance, viewers might think Daniel's works are photographs because of their stunningly realistic elements. However, the longer we look at one of his paintings, the more we become aware that they are anything but a part of our world. We encounter Sprick's paintings not so much as statements, but more as experiences, whereby we engage deeply with his creativity. - Timothy J. Standring, exhibition curator and Gates Foundation Curator at the Denver Art Museum. Daniel Sprick's Fictions: Recent Works includes more than 30 examples of the Colorado artist's portraiture and still life paintings that blur the line between realism and abstraction. Lily Pond at Pana'ewa / oil on canvas painting - 36 x 24 inches
By Peter Loftus
Located in Burlingame, CA
Tranquil tropical lily pond by American Realist nature scene oil painter Peter Loftus who is known for captivating color rich scenes through shadow and light through his oil on canvas paintings that breathe life while reflecting natural western and Hawaiian environments. Lotus's subject matter includes oceans, mountains, babbling brooks, mountain ridges and vistas, as well as people and figures. This beautiful oil painting glows with cool tranquil waters reflecting the tropical palm trees on a pool of floating lotus pads. Peter Loftus was born in 1948, in Washington DC. He received a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art, in 1971. In 1974, Loftus earned an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Drawn by the glorious California light, Loftus moved to Santa Cruz in 1975. He has lived and painted there ever since. Loftus taught at both University of California at Santa Cruz and Cabrillo Community College between 1975, through the present (at UCSC). He taught Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Drawing, and Painting, in both oil and aqueous media. During that time, he also sustained a rigorous exhibition schedule, showing regularly on the East and West coasts; in New York at Fischbach Gallery, and San Francisco at William Sawyer Gallery and later Hackett-Freedman Gallery. In addition, Loftus has participated in a number of group exhibitions. These include: American Realism: 20th Century Drawings and Watercolors (and accompanying book), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, New Horizons in American Realism: Flint Institute of Arts, Flint, MI.
