About the Item
"Dentelle by Greta Wehbé (2017)
Acrylic painting on canvas, 24 x 33 x 2,5 cm
Framed with a natural oak floating frame (27 x 38 x 3,5 cm frame included)
This landscape painting stands out with an abstraction dominated by shades of green, ranging from dark green to almost black, accented with touches of pale blue that create a subtle contrast. The dynamic and visible brushstrokes add texture and movement, evoking a dense landscape. This expressive work invites a personal reading, projecting emotions and impressions through its rich and deep nuances.
Greta was born in 1959 in Beirut, Lebanon, her artistic career began with studies in interior architecture at the University of Kaslik, then continued in France at the Beaux-Arts d'Aix-en-Provence, France where she discovered and refined her love of painting under the teaching of French artist Vincent Bioulès, and of engraving, the study of which enriched her painting. After graduating in 1984, she moved to the Paris region to attend the Beaux-Arts de Paris, where she studied lithography and painting techniques for two years.
Greta is fascinated by the changing beauty of the landscape around her, drawing her inspiration from nature, capturing and taming its shapes and movements.
Her drawings, paintings and engravings are windows onto precise moments, fleeting fragments of time, constantly renewed in the immensity of nature.
Her work focuses on light and shadow, bringing to life striking contrasts imaged, which she defines as "moments captured in the illusion of time".
Instants of the sea and instants of the countryside, where nature is honored in each season.

By Victor Gabriel Gilbert
Located in Missouri, MO
Early 20th Century Oil Painting by Victor Gilbert. Canvas dimensions 14.75 x 18 inches. Framed dimensions 22 x 25 inches.
Born Paris, France 1847; Died 1933
Victor Gilbert's natural ability as an artist was recognized early, but his family lacked the financial resources to send the young man to the École des Beaux-Arts. Rather than enrolling in the École, Gilbert was apprenticed to Eugene Adam as an artisan painter and decorator. His only formal education was evening classes with Pierre Levasseur at the École de la ville de Paris.
Perhaps it was his early immersion into la vie quotidienne that formed the basis for his later choices of subject matter for his art, that of the markets and streets of Paris.
Despite his lack of formal training, Gilbert's admissions to the Paris Salons of 1873 and 1874 were very well received by audiences and critics alike; at this time he was supported by the dealer Paul Martin, who was an important proponent of the Impressionist movement.
Gilbert emerged in the early 1880s as the primary Realist painter to record the French marketplace...
