Heinrich Hartung IV, also Clemens Heinrich Hartung (born June 25, 1888 in Dusseldorf, † March 28, 1966 in Koblenz) was a German landscape painter. He is the eldest son of a very long established in Koblenz painter family and dynasty. He bore in IV. Generation of painters the name Heinrich Hartung. Heinrich Hartung IV is regarded as a subtle interpreter of Rhenish landscapes and Rhenish life.
After attending secondary school, Hartung received his first artistic training from the painter Franz Molitor. It was almost self-evident that the fourth named after his father and grandfather Heinrich Hartung hit the career as a painter. After graduating from Molitor he completed his studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. His work was interrupted by the First World War. In 1919 he settled for further life in Koblenz. He renounced painting, much like his father Heinrich Hartung III. long time of any modernist current. Later, however, he did not hold this artistic attitude anymore. Influenced by current trends in art "he developed a broad, pasty style, to which he remained committed throughout his life." [1] His works speak of a love of simplicity and harmony of the object. Hartung's images of his conservative phase are characterized by a light, often slightly cool color, in which romantic as well as realistic tendencies come into play simultaneously.
