About the Item

The dancing couple with a seated lady is painted entirely in the style of New Objectivity. The seated lady in the foreground is depicted extremely frontally and looks directly out of the picture. She is wearing a blouse and a blazer. The couple behind her is dancing through the sober room. The matter-of-fact depiction is reduced to the essentials and bears witness to bright, soft colours.

Abstract Modernist oil painting by Zoute dated 1951. Oil on Masonite. I believe the subject in the painting is the artist's wife Thelma Salter.
