Abstract Figural and Pediments - Two Sided Art
Mid century figural and architectural painting on paper. Heavy layers of paint with a dog on an abutment and two Japanese wrestlers in a floating suspension to the elements. Grey, blue and green pastels with crimson red in the center. On verso there is a congregation of child like figures in motion.
Signed "Coughlin 11/71" on front, and "J.A. Coughlin" lower right on verso.
On heavy Arches paper.

James Coughlin was born in New York. James Coughlin studied at the Brooklyn Museum of Art and Art Students League and Collage in Paris. He completed his education at the Tyler School of Fine Arts, Temple University. He painted primarily in abstract style. His work and home studio in the Berkley area were showcased in "LIfe" magazine back in the 1970's.
