Condition: some staining and age related markings to the paper as one would expect from a work of this age but overall very presentable.
Jan Luyken (1649–1712) was a Dutch poet, illustrator, and engraver, best known for his detailed and imaginative etchings. Luyken's work was aligned with the Dutch Golden Age, and he is often remembered for his illustrations in books, particularly religious and moralistic texts.
Birth and Death: Jan Luyken was born on April 16, 1649, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and died on April 5, 1712, also in Amsterdam.
Works: He is most famous for his illustrations in the "Martyrs Mirror," a book that depicted the persecution of Christians throughout history. His works often featured scenes of daily life, biblical stories, and allegorical content.
Style: Luyken's style is characterized by intricate detail, careful line work, and a strong narrative quality. His engravings were widely respected for their precision and emotional depth.
