Magnífico óleo sobre tabla del reconocido artista español Josep Maria Vila Cañellas. La obra retrata con maestría, una escena vibrante del mercado al aire libre del pueblo de Vic, capturando el bullicio cotidiano con una paleta rica en matices y un notable dominio de la luz natural.
La composición destaca por su perspectiva dinámica y su capacidad de sumergir al espectador en el ambiente popular de un dia de feria. Las figuras humanas, las lonas de los puestos y los productos expuestos estan ejecutados con pinceladas sueltas pero precisas, lo que dota a la escena de una vitalidad espontánea y realista.

Pintor y dibujante, formado en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Olot, discípulo de Juan Colom, Ivo Pascual y Emilio Bosch Roger.
Expuso solo en Barcelona muy a menudo desde 1941, y fue premiado en la exposición nacional de Madrid de 1948 (Mercado de Vic). Cultivó un impresionismo centrado a menudo en efectos de agua, de trazo habilidoso y simplificado. Obtuvo varios premios.
Comenzó a participar en colectivas en 1932, celebrando sus primeras individuales en la sala Barcino de Barcelona, y en la Gaspar (1941-1942).
Entre sus galardones figuran Tercera Medalla en la Nacional de Bellas Artes de 1948 (Mercado de Vic), el Premio del Certamen «Paisaje de Llavaneras» en 1950, Medalla de Oro Masriera en 1953, etc…
Cultiva el paisaje y la figura, centrado a menudo en efectos de agua, de trazo habilidoso y simplificado. Está considerado uno de los exponentes más relevantes del impresionismo español.

Josep María Vilá Cañellas
Josep María Vilá Cañellas was born in Vic in 1913. He was a famous painter and draftsman and was the disciple of Juan Colom, Ivo Pascual and Emilio Bosch Roger. He began to participate in group exhibitions from 1932. His first solo exhibition was at Barcino in Barcelona and Gaspar between 1941–42. Cañellas has won several awards including the third prize at the National Fine Arts in 1948, the prize in the contest “Landscape of Llavaneras'' in 1950 and the Masriera gold medal in 1953. One of his most recent exhibitions was held at the Lamb Art gallery in Barcelona in 1996. It is considered one of the most relevant exponents of Spanish Impressionism.
