Artisan; the work is painted so realistically that everything seems 'touchable'. It seems to be 'there'...
Color; the artist isn't afraid to go wild with color. This gives the still lifes a liveliness that is unique for 'still lifes'.
Combinations; the subjects that Jean Paul Marsman puts together on a panel are very diverse.
Because of the extremely realistic effect you believe what you see. That makes the still lifes stimulating performances that never bore.
The fresh colors give a continuous feeling of spring or summer and a good mood. It always seems to be beautiful weather with his meticulously elaborated flowers, birds, vegetables and fruit. Fresh colours, a very realistic elaboration and surprising combinations are perhaps the keywords of the artist.
Very popular are the series in which Jean Paul Marsman keeps showing his works. The series with birds for example. Birds such as a Robin or Blue Tit in combination with stimulating subjects. Literally with barbed wire and beautiful flowers, but also with eggs of all kinds. Not the eggs of the various birds themselves, but a chocolate egg or, for example, a Fabergé egg. The paintings are so popular that they are often only seen in the gallery for a short time or not at all.
Recently, the artist started a new series, he became interested in the billiard ball. The shine, the material and the colors in combination with a number make it a challenge to paint. The shine in Jean Paul Marsman's billiard balls is very special and fascinating. Again, the combinations are surprising and unusual. For example, a tulip carrying a ball becomes a Power Flower.
