About the Item
This painting presents a young woman in a boat, motionless in the middle of a lake at sunset. The figure, seen in a three-quarter view, shows her almost bare back, with a white blouse tied with delicate ribbons. Her blonde hair falls over one shoulder as her face turns toward a point beyond our view, reinforcing the introspective nature of the image.
The sunset light plays a central role. It bathes the whites of the scene in warm yellow and orange hues that contrast with the dominant range of blues in the water. This chromatic balance between warm and cool tones creates an atmosphere of serenity and contemplation. The boat remains still, the oars rest in the water, and the gentle movement of the surface barely disturbs the reflections of the figure and the boat.
The square format of the work enhances compositional stability. The girl seems disconnected from the outside world, focused on something intimate and invisible to us.
Beyond its formal beauty, the painting works as a metaphor: the still boat, floating between shores, represents a space of transition and reflection.

Born in Madrid, Spain, he pursued Interior Design studies but his aptitude for painting led him to focus on this art form. In 1986, he joined the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, where he spent several years drawing and painting figures from life. In 1989, he became a copyist of Art Works at the National Prado Museum in Madrid, a role he continued for several more years. He took painting courses with Daniel Quintero and Eduardo Úrculo, and engraving courses at the National Mint of Madrid with José Hernández, Daniel Gil, Paco Mora, and Luis Cabrera. He has held solo and group exhibitions in various national and international galleries. He has been selected for numerous national competitions and has won several awards, including the 2nd Prize at the Caballeros de Yuste, finalist in the VIII Laura Otero, Honorary Medal at Sotillo de la Adrada, 5th Prize at the XVIII Antequera in Málaga, Honorary Medal at the XXII López-Villaseñor, XLII Antonio López Painting and Drawing Competition in Tomelloso, Ciudad Real, and First Prize in Small Format Painting at AGORA96 in Cádiz. He was a finalist in the Ynglada-Guillot Foundation Drawing Competition in Barcelona. His most recent selections include Daimiel and Virgen de las Viñas 2022, Laura Otero (finalist), and Valdepeñas 2023. In 2018, he was selected to exhibit at the Art Revolution Taipei International Art Fair and at the X-Power Gallery in Taipei.
