Juan Álvarez Cebrián
Woman reading in a rocking chair I

2024

About the Item

This painting captures a moment of tranquility and elegance. A young woman, presented in profile, is immersed in reading a book while gently swaying in a rocking chair. The scene takes place on a warm summer day, with a golden light enveloping the figure and highlighting her delicacy. Her knitted sweater falls nonchalantly over her right shoulder, leaving part of it bare, while she wears black shorts and espadrilles with ankle straps. Her relaxed posture and the simple updo of her reddish-black hair reinforce the sense of serenity. The background of the painting plays with warm tones, with yellows around the figure and soft bluish mauves in the corners, framing the composition. This work conveys the femininity and inner peace of the woman in a moment of connection with herself.
