About the Item

Judith Williams’ Moonlit Musings evokes a dreamlike moment of introspection. This charcoal drawing features soft shadows and flowing lines that suggest movement, memory, and quiet thought. With its ethereal composition and elegant simplicity, this work adds a touch of moody sophistication to modern interiors. A perfect piece for those drawn to expressive, feminine figurative art. "The unusual shapes coming together in their raw simplistic form, how they interact with each other, the shapes creating their own language. I let them stand alone in their purest form. The way they come together in the space helps ground them, giving a friction of sorts, a system, a world built around the forms, a quiet place within. I love large inviting spaces, as if to say, “Come here, I’m here to comfort you.” I am creating a space where you find a soothing uncluttered balance. I want you to like the stillness there. So every piece of work has a piece of me in it, my personality, my love of spaciousness and calm. I am totally aware of every aspect of the work and in the moment, concentrating on that one moment in time—the Now. It is my desire that the sense of peace, harmony, and stillness is communicated to you." Judith Williams is a New York born artist now living in Jacksonville, Florida. She is self- taught, and also studied at SUNY Binghamton in upstate New York in their Studio Arts program with James Bohary and David Shapiro. Painting is a vehicle that Judith has used to overcome many personal obstacles. Art soon became a consistent, reliable healer, a means of expression, and has become a necessary extension of herself. She spends time with her family and long sunny days painting in her Florida studio. Her paintings and figurative drawings represent a strong universal appeal. Her abstract paintings and charcoal paintings/drawings have been described as reflective, ethereal and evanescent. Her work shows abstraction plus glimpses of classical styles mixed with hints of abstraction. You can find Judith’s work in select galleries across the United States. “Working abstract is a constant revisited work in process, always expanding on the possibilities of my imagination. I allow the fluid washes of color to move freely, creating an organic feel to the work. I think working with Charcoal is magical. The vine itself is so light it seems as though it is weightless, the dust flies as the sound of its wonderful scratching against the canvas fills the air, and it melts into the canvas so quickly. My abstract and figurative work are intertwined. They follow me and challenge me. I feel my gift is being able to capture traces of what my imagination lets go of. Then I bring out the best qualities by giving and taking away, creating a form that is at once comforting, ethereal, evanescent. In the end, whether I am creating abstract or figurative work, I hope to create something that keeps pushing me to move forward.”
