About the Item
This composition features two hands delicately holding cigarettes, rendered with bold yet intricate linework against a serene monochromatic teal background. The juxtaposition of meticulous detail and minimalist color palette creates a contemplative, almost meditative quality, as the subject balances between the intimate and universal. The interplay of traditional oil painting techniques with AI-assisted design highlights Wells' exploration of technology's role in augmenting artistic expression, making this work a poignant reflection on modernity and timeless human gestures.

In Allegories of Rich Tapestries, conceptual artist Lee Wells blends painting, drawing, and AI-assisted imagery with classical influences to create a visual language that feels both familiar and strange. This exploration seeks to uncover the underlying truths beneath the surface of daily life, reflecting humanity’s ongoing search for meaning in a world that often seems fragmented and absurd.
The relationship between perception, narrative, and truth is intricate and often blurred. Throughout history, humans have constructed stories and symbols to make sense of the world, bridging the gap between the known and the unknown. These narratives—whether rooted in myths, historical events, or everyday experience —frequently shape our understanding of reality, even when they diverge from objective truth.
By navigating the intersection of hand-drawn and digital worlds, Allegories of Rich Tapestries examines how technology reconfigures both the artistic process and the narratives that shape collective understanding in the post-AI era. Wells highlights the shifting nature of perception in a time when artificial and organic realities coexist, prompting viewers to reflect on the implications of this convergence.
Since the early 1990s, Wells has exhibited his work internationally, challenging audiences to rethink art, reality, and the potential of human creativity amidst technological evolution. His work has been featured in exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum, PS1/MoMA, the 51st Venice Biennale, as well as numerous universities, festivals, art fairs, and galleries.

Lee Wells
Lee Wells (b.1971) is a conceptual artist whose practice, rooted in the act of painting, draws inspiration from the epic myth of the avant-garde, the enthusiasm of the New York School, the praxis of the Situationists, the process of Fluxus, and the contradictions of Postmodernism. Wells enjoys making things, collaborating with others, and learning something new as often as possible. Most recently he has been experimenting with new technologies to expand on the new frontier of Human / AI collaboration in the arts. Historically his work has focused on systems of power and control in society and has been presented in various forms internationally for over 30 years, including the Guggenheim Museum, MCA Chicago, PS1/MoMA, 51st Venice Biennale, The National Arts Club, and Hermitage Museum, as well as numerous universities, festivals, art fairs, and galleries. Wells was a co-founder of The Perpetual Art Machine, the video art community portal project (2006-2011) and has directed the alternative curatorial platform IFAC Arts since 1996 which is currently based in New York’s Lower East Side and Athens, Greece.

For years she was a teacher on the famous Florence Art Academy. Since 2022 she fulltime works as a painter. Her works are all around the world in great collections.
For our exhibition 'A Female Gaze' Daniela Astone made a series of paintings where the female aspect of her life is the main subject.
This series contains a series of seven paintings where you see a dancing couple. Female- male couples and male-male/ female-female couples.
The Currator of Galerie Bonnard says about the paintings by Daniela Astone:
The classical structure and narrative paintings show a technique that is special. Her style is virtuoso and her subjects narrative. The keys are loose and subtle. For this artist, standing in front of a painting means...
