About the Item
Artist Comments
Sitting on a silver stool, a woman immerses herself in mysterious and romantic thoughts. Against the dripping blue background, her warm skin tone radiates. Her eyes, intentionally obscured, add an element of intrigue to the painting. The artwork comes with a matte black wood frame measuring 2 inches deep and 0.75 of an inch thick.
About the Artist
Malia Pettit sees her artistic process as an act of “liberating the paint†and “allowing for the unexpected to occur.†Her portraits of women stem from a fascination with glossy magazines and their portrayal of models, actors and celebrities. Her work has been especially influenced by Chantal Joffe and John Singer Sargent. She currently resides in Louisiana after having lived in both California and England for several years. When she’s not painting, she is a full-time mom and enjoys exploring estate sales, antique stores and used bookstores.

About the Artist
Naoko Paluszak began her career by studying graphic design in Tokyo, followed by several years working as a designer, before switching to oil painting. Now located in the United States, Naoko continues to develop her style through different series of paintings that have varying degrees of abstraction. By bridging representational with non-representational forms, the artist seeks to stir personal memories and spark new narratives. “Art is about having a sense of mystery and drama,” she says. Naoko is also passionate about color. She mixes her paints based on the intuitive emotions that different colors can trigger within the viewer, and within herself.
