Marc Chaubaron
View of the "Rampes du Loc'h" on Auray Ramparts at Sunset, Brittany, Oil Pastel

2019

$729.78

About

This artwork is part of a series of oil pastels from Marc Chaubaron, who aimed to keep a record of the old Saint-Goustan French port. It features a view of the "Rampes du Loc'h" (Loch Ramps) besides Auray ramparts. A small bench is facing the Saint-Goustan port. The Abbé-Joseph-Martin quay goes past the houses on the right. The said ramps are the zigzagging uphill pathways in the center of the painting. They allow to walk above the ramparts. The painting also shows the three lasts buttresses of the Auray Castle. The sky is pinkish, indicating sunset. The artist used a homemade mixture of oil pastel and other ingredients. The painting is textured with small reliefs. As opposite to dry pastels, there is no risk of the painting falling off the medium. This artwork is not framed. Marc Chaubaron is a French artist with different graphic styles, from narrative naive art to impressionist landscape pastels.
