About the Item
"A luminous, emotional landscape evoking the warmth and wild beauty of the Andalusian countryside."
Marc Tanguy (b. 1959)
Andalucia 1 (2023)
Mixed media on paper laid on board, 50 x 38 x 2 cm (19.7 x 15 x 0.8 in)
Framed in a natural oak floating frame: 55 x 43 x 3.5 cm (21.7 x 16.9 x 1.4 in)
Marc Tanguy’s Andalucia 1 captures the spirit of a Mediterranean landscape through abstract impressionism. Rather than offering a literal view, the composition conveys emotion and atmosphere using bold color and expressive brushwork. Several tree trunks anchor the foreground, rendered in vivid strokes of purple, pink, and brown to suggest depth and texture. These are set against a bright, sunlit backdrop of greens, blues, and yellows that evokes the vibrancy of Andalusian vegetation.
The energetic paint application and textured surface create a dynamic yet harmonious image, where contrasts between light and shadow enhance the immersive feel of the scene. There are no defined outlines or specific details—only a powerful sense of place, heat, and movement.
An evocative work for collectors drawn to lyrical, emotionally charged landscapes and contemporary abstraction.

Marc Tanguy is a french artist who was born in 1959. He studied at the Beaux Arts of Paris (ENSBA) and at the National School of Arts Deco (ENSAD) also in Paris where he met and worked with Zao Wou Ki. His paintings are collected all over the world and he has been exhibited mainly in France then England and China. Today and beside his painter activity, he teaches at the National Art Deco School of Paris. Landscapes are one of his favourite subjects where he explores nature in many different ways. Boundaries between the image and the the paint melt together in sensitive and organic abstractions. Atmospheres, lights, colors and touches are mixed in an open and very poetic space.
Lyrism is something you feel in his work lightenned by the inspiration of Nature.
Marc is passionate about art and art history. His influences are wide and we can feel Claude Monet's light and Pierre Bonnard in the use of colors.
On canvas or on paper with his watercolors, Marc Tanguy shows a real proficiency in the use of colors and his compositions are like joyful open windows.

Marilyn vs JFK & JFK vs Marilyn
By Alex Guofeng Cao
Located in New York, NY
In a captivating new collection, Alex Guofeng Cao dazzles audiences with his unique twist on instantly recognizable images. Inspired by history and pop culture, Cao manipulates one iconic image to create another in his extraordinary large-scale works. From a distance, the pieces appear to be a singular image but as the viewer approaches closer, you find each work is a masterfully crafted compilation of minute detailed images layered next to one another, creating a mesmerizing and hypnotic optical illusion.
Cao meticulously places each smaller image to form a dynamic gradient from dark to light which tricks the eye into seeing one image. This expertise in contrast is exemplified in all of his works, from striking black and white pieces to stunning explorations in high-definition color. He cleverly mirrors this visual contrast in his subject matter by subverting the main image and creating a dialogue between the macrocosm and microcosm.
Take the piece, Ali vs Armstrong; here we see the iconic image of Muhammed Ali’s victory composed of thousands of tiny portraits...
