"Mid-nineties monster thoughts," states artist Mark Cudd. A woman wearing a mischievous smile with her hair neatly pulled back into a ponytail looks knowingly to the side. The painting is in a monochromatic black and white aside from the hairy yellow hand with its long talon-like nails she leans her cheek on.
About the Artist
Mark sources his inspiration from old family photographs, found images, or pictures he shoots himself. He arranges the selected elements, sometimes with a bit of embellishment, in an attempt to create a narrative that is relatable to the viewer. Mark aims to establish a dialogue based on common experiences, fears, ideas, and memories. “It should remind you of something,” the artist says of his paintings. Viewers of different ages and demographics can all identify with the feelings of nostalgia evoked by Mark’s work.
