About the Item

Michael Azgour's work has been extensively collected, awarded and celebrated worldwide. He is a painting and drawing teacher at Stanford University and his works can be seen in public collections like Stanford University, Lucille Packard Children's Hospital and Showtime Network. His works are laborious and take months to complete as his technique requires the precise application of think layers of paint to achieve his ideal palette. This piece is a triptych (3 canvases), intended to be installed together. "Beach Day" is part of Michael's series "Aqua". As a California native, this series is a somewhat nostalgic look at the Pacific Ocean, the energy of the crashing waves, and the people who interact with it on the shore. Movement, light and color- and the passage of time- are major themes in these works.
