His works are laborious and take months to complete as his technique requires the precise application of think layers of paint to achieve his ideal palette. This piece is a triptych (3 canvases), intended to be installed together. "Beach Day" is part of Michael's series "Aqua". As a California native, this series is a somewhat nostalgic look at the Pacific Ocean, the energy of the crashing waves, and the people who interact with it on the shore. Movement, light and color- and the passage of time- are major themes in these works.
