About the Item

This contemporary expressionist still life titled “The Window of Joy” by French artist Natalya Mougenot emerges as a vivid meditation on simplicity, presence, and emotional authenticity. Part of her ongoing series devoted to the quiet beauty of everyday moments, this painting invites viewers to pause and reconnect with what is often overlooked: a bouquet in bloom, the sea beyond a window, the gentle expanse of a blue sky. “At a time when everything moves so fast,” Mougenot explains, “I feel it is more important than ever to stop—even for a second—and really look. That’s where life is.” Her work captures not only what is seen but what is felt in the stillness of such moments. The artist believes that the modern pace of life tends to sweep us into a state of constant urgency, leaving little room to appreciate the present. “Art,” she says, “must be authentic. It should come from a place of truth, from what moves us deeply. That’s the only way it can move others.” In The Window of Joy, this ethos comes to life through an evocative seascape framed by rustic wooden shutters. A cascading green plant in a vivid cobalt-blue pot stands at the center, resting on a sun-drenched yellow surface that radiates warmth and optimism. Mougenot’s bold, expressive brushstrokes infuse the scene with vitality, as if the painting itself breathes. The contrasting hues—the lush greenery against the luminous yellow, the deep blues of the ocean meeting the soft, swirling sky—create a symphony of color and movement. This interplay between the wildness of nature and the comfort of the interior evokes a sense of harmony. The painting does not merely depict a view; it becomes a window into a state of mind—one of gratitude, joy, and quiet reflection. The natural elements—the flourishing plant, the endless sea, the open sky—mirror the emotional landscape the artist invites us to inhabit. Ultimately, The Window of Joy is more than a still life; it is a gentle call to slow down and cherish the fleeting beauty around and within us. It is a celebration of color, nature, and emotional presence—an invitation to live more fully in the moment. Title: "The window of joy" Medium: Acrylic on heavyweight professional acid-free paper, varnished for protection Dimensions: 50 × 65 cm (19.68 × 25.59 in) Signed on the front and back Certificate of Authenticity included International delivery from France About the Artist: Originally from Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, and now based in Lyon, France, Natalya Mougenot has spent over two decades refining her artistic voice. Her multicultural background and personal experience inform her bold, expressive works, which have found homes in private collections around the world. Natalya’s distinctive visual language blends Abstract Expressionism, Impressionism, Art Naïf, and Art Brut—resulting in paintings that are raw, instinctive, and emotionally resonant. Across her work, three values guide her: authenticity, sincerity, and honesty. “Authenticity is everything,” she says. “People can always feel when something is real—or when it’s not. I want my work to be honest, to come from a place that’s true.” In addition to painting, Natalya is also a passionate photographer. Her photographic work—also featured on this platform—mirrors her painterly sensibility: a poetic, observational approach that captures the quiet power of everyday life. For her, photography is both inspiration and a form of presence, often serving as visual sketches for future paintings or existing as standalone works.
