About the Item
Pop Art. Jughead from Archie comics. Sylvester the cat. Pan Am. Black. White. Grays.
About the Artist:
Formally trained as an illustrator, Nancy Landauer holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York City. She worked on staff as a print and textile designer, and freelanced as a magazine illustrator for many years. Enjoying the freedom from the constraints of commercial art, Nancy has created a unique and on-trend look in her mixed media collages and abstract canvases.. The result of her unique artistic voice is a distinct body of work in which every piece is different and makes it own contemporary statement. Creating mixed media collage returns me to my roots as an illustrator. It allows me to create a narrative and express my opinion on various subjects - from the political chaos we exist in today,to reflections on the expectations generations before ours had for their lives, to music that inspires me.
When creating a collage, I celebrate that which inspires me and brings me joy. I question that which frustrates me. In collage I enjoy juxtaposing unexpected images, colors and textures against each other, creating layers that combine to create one unified image.
