About the Item

This set of four original works by Natasha Lelenco belongs to the "Exchange Currencies" series, a project that reflects on migration, foreignness, and the human experience of displacement. Each piece is meticulously painted on treated circular pine wood, highlighting the artist’s exploration of identity and belonging through portraiture. The portraits, titled "Currency #208," "Currency #243," "Currency #216," and "Currency #195," feature anonymous faces accompanied by evocative texts in different languages, addressing themes of alienation, cultural identity, and the shared human experience. By pairing these emotive texts with vibrant colors and detailed acrylic painting, Lelenco blurs the line between the natural and digital, as well as the personal and universal. This product consists of artworks that can also be purchased individually on our storefront. The set, offered at a more economical price than purchasing separately, will only be available as long as all individual pieces remain available. Technically, these artworks are crafted on sculptural wooden panels, with a 2cm thickness that emphasizes their dimensionality and tactile presence. The edges of the pieces have been worked on as part of the composition, allowing them to function individually or as part of a larger panel arrangement. The series challenges traditional notions of coinage, replacing symbols of power and nationalism with anonymous, empathetic figures, each conveying the emotional weight of migration and the complex layers of human connection. This panel of four offers a dynamic and thought-provoking narrative when displayed together, emphasizing the universality of the themes they address. Natasha Lelenco invites the viewer to engage with these works not only as art but as artifacts of shared human experience, making them ideal for collectors interested in contemporary art, migration, and identity. Keywords: Natasha Lelenco, original paintings on wood, Exchange Currencies series, migration art, foreignness themes, anonymous portraiture, contemporary art set, human identity, cultural displacement, sculptural wooden panels, collectible art.
