About the Item
The heart of this artwork features a woman seated gracefully on her bed, a place of comfort and solace. Her posture exudes a sense of tranquility and introspection, as she gazes into the distance with a contemplative expression. It's a moment frozen in time, and Oluyemi's attention to detail in rendering the woman's features and expression is nothing short of remarkable. The viewer can almost feel the stillness and calm that permeates the scene.
The title, "Her Green Robe," hints at the central element of the composition—the woman's robe. It's a vibrant shade of green, and it drapes gracefully over her figure, enveloping her in its soothing embrace. The choice of green symbolizes renewal, growth, and harmony, suggesting that this personal space is a sanctuary for the woman, a place where she finds not only physical comfort but also spiritual solace.
In the woman's bed rests a Bible, a symbol of faith and contemplation. It's clear that this is a moment of reflection and connection with something greater than oneself. The presence of the Bible adds a layer of depth to the scene, inviting viewers to ponder the woman's thoughts and emotions as she engages with her spirituality.
Beyond the woman and her green robe, the artwork hints at the surroundings. A window frames the scene, offering a glimpse of the world outside. It's through this window that the woman receives fresh air, which wafts in from the trees behind her room. The connection to nature is palpable and adds an element of harmony to the composition. The rustling leaves and gentle breezes become a part of her sacred moment, emphasizing the sanctuary-like quality of this space.
"I’m happy here, I feel safe here," says Oluyemi, capturing the essence of the woman's experience in this intimate setting. It's a sentiment that resonates deeply with anyone who has a personal space where they can retreat, reflect, and find comfort in solitude.
In conclusion, "Her Green Robe" by Oluwapelumi Oluyemi is a masterful portrayal of a woman's sanctuary, where she finds solace, peace, and a connection to something greater. Through meticulous attention to detail and a profound understanding of the human experience, Oluyemi invites viewers to contemplate their own spaces of comfort and reflection. "Her Green Robe" stands as a poignant reminder of the significance of personal sanctuaries and the solace they provide in an often hectic world. It is a testament to the power of art to capture the essence of the human spirit and evoke profound emotions.

Your purpose is to simply exist, without identifying as something specific. The ultimate truth is encapsulated in the phrase 'I am that I am'. The path to realizing this truth is elegantly simple: just 'Be still'. Stillness means letting go of your ego and the labels you've assigned yourself. Any definition or identity you cling to is a source of suffering. Release your attachment to thinking 'I am this' or 'I am that'. To discover your true nature, all you need to do is quiet your mind and be present.
