About the Item

Paresh Maity - Expression-VII 20x 16 inches (unframed size) Oil on Canvas 2015 ( Framed & Delivered ) Style : Paresh has also briefly experimented with abstracts, which was more of freeing the limitations of a landscape. One would still see an odd ship or a tree though not in a representative manner. Even when he did go back to painting figures the contextual setting was more often neglected. The focus was on the figure, specifically the faces, with their myriad expressions, closely cropped and juxtaposed with their surrondings. The colours are vibrant and dazzle the viewer. The stylized, simplified figures have a story of their own, transporting one to an exotic land. Virtuosity of medium is not the message the spirit behind the man and his talent are. It has taken a long time for Paresh Maity to reach where he is, "the execution of the work itself may take little time, but to get there it has taken me 20 years". About the Artist & his work : Born : 1965 in Tamluk, West Bengal. Education : B.F.A. Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata M.F.A. College of Art, New Delhi. Art Career : While in school he made clay images of gods and goddesses and sold them to earn money for his education. He started painting watercolours of river scenes while still at school and then then oil painting thereafter. Paresh's adventurous, experimental personality has prodded him to explore in all mediums – drawings, watercolours, oils, mixed media, installation and sculptures, photography and filmmaking. Paresh's uniqueness lies in his rediscovering the charm, flavor and magic of India in his paintings. Rajasthan has been the human inspiration behind his work, Shantiniketan the spirituality of mind, body and soul, in Agra he visualized the beauty of Taj, in Ajanta-Ellora he recreated the amazing Buddhist frescoes, in his magical series on Kerala he captured the destination in its pristine colours to the serene ghats of Varanasi and the Himalayan heights of Himachal Pradesh. He has done series of works on almost all facets and destinations of India and then across the seas to London, Venice, China and Japan. He has painted them all. Exhibitions : He has participated 79 Solo Exhibitions worldwide. Some of them given below : 2017 : Art Stage Singapore, presented by Gallery Sumukha, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore & Forty Years of Watercolour, Lalit Kala Academi, New Delhi, presented by Art Alive Gallery; 2016 : Art 16 presented by Gallery Sumukha, Olympia, London & Art Stage Singapore, presented by Sanchit Art, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore; 2015 : Sydney Contemporary Art Fair, presented by Art Alive Gallery, Sydney, Australia ; Art 15 presented by Gallery Sumukha, Olympia, London & Art Stage Singapore, presented by Gallery Sumukha, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore ; 2014 : The Arts House, presented by Gallery Sumukha, Singapore ; Art Stage Singapore, presented by Gallery Sumukha, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore & Art 14, presented by Gallery Sumukha, Olympia, London ; 2013 : Art 13, London Olympia, Singapore presented by Gallery Sumukha & Visual Arts Gallery, presented by Gallery Sumukha, Hong Kong ; 2012 : The Arts House, presented by Gallery Sumukha, Singapore ; Art Stage Singapore, presented by Gallery Sumukha, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore & ‘Kolkata Taj Bengal’, presented by Jaguar Land Rover with Gallery Sanskriti, Kolkata ; 2011 : Chivas Studio, New Delhi and Mumbai; Gallery Sumukha in association with Wei-Ling Contemporary, Malaysia in Bangalore & Kuala Lumpur & Art Stage Singapore, presented by Gallery Sumukha, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore ; 22010 : Joint show with Steve McCurry, Chicago, Tourism Centre in association with Art Alive Gallery & Group show, Shizaru Art Gallery, London ; 2006 : Aicon Gallery, Palo Alto, USA & Visual Arts Gallery, presented by Gallery Sumukha, Hong Kong ; 2005 : Arts India, New York. Untitled, Watercolor on Paper, Black, Yellow color by Rabin Mondal “In Stock”
By Rabin Mondal
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Rabin Mondal - Face ; Watercolour on Paper 9.6 x 12.8 inches (unframed) ; 2008 ( Shipment will be in a ready to hang ) Mondal was a clear observant of the various migrant workers who lived along his house in the conjected Howrah Area. They came from far to work and earn their livelihood. He would observe them and was deeply moved by the labour and low rung working class who carried all the heavy load oriented work. He would paint the men and the women , some distressed , some gloomy but with a force that would uplift them to be the heros of the society. Surprisingly Mondal was never depressed himself although he painted people in hard labour and poverty . Style : Mondal`s works are mainly figurative. He paints in bold strokes and creates tableaux, whose themes are universal. The faces of his figures stare at you out of the canvas, strange and pensive, but also strong and defiant. Not yet beaten, survi...

Oil on Enamel plate, Red, Yellow, Black color by Padma Bhushan Artist "In Stock"
By K.G. Subramanyan
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
K.G. Subramanyan - Untitled - 12 x 12 inches (unframed size) Oil on Enamel plate Inclusive of shipment without frame. Style : K G Subramanyan was one of the leading artists who was part of India’s post-Independence search for identity through art. A writer, scholar, teacher and art historian, K G Subramanyan was prolific in his art, spanning the spectrum of mediums from painting to pottery, weaving, and glass painting. He believed in the value of Indian traditions and incorporated folklore, myth and local techniques and stories into his work. Critic Geeta Kapur has stated that Subramanyan was deeply influenced by popular, modern, classical and indigenous traditions. No matter what the medium, be it handmade paper or acrylic sheet, his artistic practice has integrated fluid traditions so as to create a new lingua franca. The strokes that shape the faces and the little blobs, the vertical and horizontal drama all become like a choreographed symbolism that has a sense of play in line and length. Nothing is in excess, nothing is obnoxious but each stroke forms the finesse of versatile ventures. About the Artist and his work : K.G. Subramanyan (1924-2016) was born in Kerala. Education : He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the Presidency College in Chennai. In 1948, he graduated from Kala Bhavan in Santiniketan, where he studied under the tutelage of Benode Behari Mukherjee, Nandalal Bose and Ramkinkar Baij. In 1955, he received a British Council Research Fellowship to the Slade School of Art at the University of London. He was an inspiration to generations of students as a member of the Baroda M S Fine Arts Faculty. His focus there in later years was on terracotta and pottery. Solo Shows : 2014 – The Government Museum & Arts Gallery, Chandigarh. 2014 – Red Earth Gallery, Vadodara. 2018 – Art Musings, Mumbai, KG Subramanyan...

Untitled, Acrylic on Canvas, Yellow, Red by Contemporary Indian Artist"In Stock"
By Amit Kalla
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Amit Kalla - Untitled - 60 x 36 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas ** Free Shipment ...... will be delivered in rolled form. Style : Kalla’s work can be represented by his commitment to experimenting with social engagement through the arts. It is here his strength lies. Through his deep connection to a cultural expression of a universal spirituality and passionate sense of humanity Kalla, continuously draws people from all communities into acts of creativity in the belief that through creativity people are empowered and communities move incrementally closer to truth. His poetry and paintings are spiritually intuited. While his poems create a secretive world of words, where silence speaks his paintings are calligraphic and draw on the same silent unknowing of invented texts. His paintings represent moments on the continuum; a slice snatched from his deeper hidden journey. The strength of Kalla’s work is that it represents an Indian artist’s quest for an indigenous tenor rather than a superficial inventory of native motifs, there is nothing about his work which relies on a static Indian Identity. About the Artist & his work : Born : 1980 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Education : 2005 - Masters in Art and Aesthetics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 2003 - Graduation in Art History, National Museum Institute specializing in ancient Indian art...
