About the Item

Boy eating Corn by Great Modern Indian Artist Paritosh Sen 20 x 12 inches (unframed size) - Acrylic on board Inclusive of shipment in a roll form. Boy eating Fruit, figurative in acrylic on board by the student of Picasso, Modern Indian Artist Paritosh Sen. An illustrator and a painter, Paritosh Sen is one of the most celebrated painters of the Indian art field, who believes that “the success of a painting lies in the artist’s willingness to deal with each painting on it’s own terms”. Sen is known for his vivid illustrations of everyday urban life. His strokes are bold and stylized which help his human figures express a myriad of emotions. Style : Sen has experimented in various media from oil and water-colour to etching, to even acrylic which is quite rare for an artist of his generation. Paritosh Sen’s style never remained the same and it is not possible to categorise his works into any specific art genre. A painter, illustrator, tutor and writer, Paritosh Sen has been a part of the world of Indian art, for close to four decades now. Sen’s more recognizable works are his caricatures, which reflect strong underlying socio-political shades, and his female nude drawings. His style of representation is influenced by his exposure to Western Modern art, and has traces of cubism. He uses two dimensional, structured planes but still creates an illusion of voluptuousness. His drawings and paintings are noted for their strong lines and bold, stylised strokes. Although colour is an important aspect of his paintings, it is the human figure, expressing a myriad of emotions, that dominates his art. A recurrent subject in Sen’s works is his depiction of scenes from everyday urban life. These activities are rendered from a cynical and detached perspective, which is typically Sen’s viewpoint. • Modernist Rabbi Judaica Painting on Gold Background
    By Harry Sternberg
    Located in Surfside, FL
A contorted Rabbi looking upward is depicted in a naive, and almost child-like manner. Vibrant colors, and gestural brushstrokes fill the composition, enhancing the flatness of the figure. Harry Sternberg, artist, teacher, and political activist was born in New York City's lower east side in 1904. He was the youngest of eight children born to his mother, a hungarian immigrant, and his father, an immigrant from Russia, . His passion for art came early; by age 12 he had begun saturday art classes at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Sternberg continued to advance his formal art education through 1922, studying at at New York's prestigious Arts Students League alongside Raphael Soyer, Yasuo Kuniyoshi and other notables of the day. His career as a professional artist began in 1928 when he consigned a group of his early prints with the dealer Frederick Keppel in New York. In 1933 he returned to the Art Students League of New York as an instructor, where he taught etching, lithography and composition, continuing to teach there for over 34 years. During the Great Depression he was a WPA artist, and his murals are in post offices in Chicago, Chester and Sellersville, Pennsylvania. Sternberg came to national prominence as a printmaker, painter, and muralist, in the Depression era and during World War II. Sternberg was an acclaimed member of a vital generation of American artists dedicated to exposing social injustices and offering support for an egalitarian society. His interest in the plight of American workers...
