The works is priced at a very very special price and is being offered to 1st dibs buyers at a very special rate . An illustrator and a painter, Paritosh Sen is one of the most celebrated painters of the Indian art field, who believes that “the success of a painting lies in the artist’s willingness to deal with each painting on it’s own terms”. Sen is known for his vivid illustrations of everyday urban life. His strokes are bold and stylized which help his human figures express a myriad of emotions. Style : Sen has experimented in various media from oil and water-colour to etching, to even acrylic which is quite rare for an artist of his generation. Paritosh Sen’s style never remained the same and it is not possible to categorise his works into any specific art genre. A painter, illustrator, tutor and writer, Paritosh Sen has been a part of the world of Indian art, for close to four decades now. Sen’s more recognizable works are his caricatures, which reflect strong underlying socio-political shades, and his female nude drawings. His style of representation is influenced by his exposure to Western Modern art, and has traces of cubism. He uses two dimensional, structured planes but still creates an illusion of voluptuousness. His drawings and paintings are noted for their strong lines and bold, stylised strokes. Although colour is an important aspect of his paintings, it is the human figure, expressing a myriad of emotions, that dominates his art. A recurrent subject in Sen’s works is his depiction of scenes from everyday urban life. These activities are rendered from a cynical and detached perspective, which is typically Sen’s viewpoint. Wings 2021, Acrylic, Charcoal, Canvas by Modern Artist Shuvaprasanna "In Stock"
By Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya - Wings 2021 - 60 x 30 inches (unframed size) Acrylic and Charcoal on Canvas , 2021 One of the most popular series of the Master Artist, The Golden Flute is the artists more romantic renedition of Art. The iconic figures of Krishna, Radha, and Ganesha that found lyrical expression in the Icons series are modern representations and sophisticated idealizations of the same images in the popular media. Krishna is a cosmic musician, and the tune he creates by playing his transcendental flute is embodied with cosmic energy. When Krishna is depicted as being between the age of 5 and 8, it is always with his flute. Therefore, during this period, he is aptly called Murlidhara (murali means “flute,” and dhara means “hold”), signifying the one who holds the flute. He is never without it, whether he is with his mother, on the grazing grounds with his herd of cows, among his cowherd companions or roaming around on the Jamuna banks. Gopis lose their selves in this tune. For them, music becomes the voice of love, which is too passionate and secretive. Style : The city of Kolkata has always figured prominently in his work. His themes come from his personal interactions with its urban milieu - its sickness and sordidness, its violence and vulnerability and all that compounds its existential agony. Shuvaprasanna has depicted varying moods of the city and its people, its places, and all its facets that make the city distinctive. He doesn't merely portray reality as 'matter of fact' and his presentation of reality often has dream-like elements in it. In terms of technique, Shuvaprasanna boasts a precise, finely executed style that yields an unmistakable visual intensity. He works comfortably in an assortment of media, including oil on canvas, charcoal, and mixed media. About the Artist and his work : Born : In Calcutta, 1947. Education : Graduated from Indian College of Art (R.B. University, Calcutta) in 1969. Exhibitions : Shuvaprasanna has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Tao Art Gallery and at the Chawla Art Gallery, Square One Mall. Several works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'ABODE' sold at Waddington's 'Fine Prints & Photography Auction' in 2014. There have been many articles about Shuvaprasanna, including 'An exclusive edifice' written by Kunal Ray for The Hindu in 2014. Selected Solo Exhibitions : 2011 - Shuvaprasanna: Recent Works, CIMA, Centre of International Modern Art, India, Kolkata 2010 - Summer Show 2010, CIMA, Centre of International Modern Art, India, Kolkata 2007 - ‘Madhura: The Golden Flute’, organized by Indian Contemporary at Visual Arts Centre, Hong Kong 2006 - ‘The Divine Flute’, Aicon Gallery, USA 2002 - ‘Icons and Illusions’, Gallery ArtsIndia, New York 1998 - ‘An Appreciation of Ted Hughes’, Exhibition of Crow Paintings...

Italian American Modernist Pattern Painting Key West Kitty Cat Piero Aversa Art
Located in Surfside, FL
Mixed media on panel. Sprawling cat. Hand signed lower right. Dimensions: (Frame) H 8.25" x W 10.25" (Board) H 5" x W 7" Piero Aversa was born in Asmara, Eritrea, East Africa, educated at the Belle Arte in Rome, and lived and exhibited worldwide. He moved to the US in 1953. Piero Aversa was passionate about many facets of artistic expression. A larger than life Gay Artist, he enjoyed the company of many jet setters in New York City during his Fashion and Interior Design days. Originally from Italy he finally settled in Key West, Florida where the largest collection of his art is displayed. His talents span design in fabrics, wall covering, jewelry and films as well as the fine arts. The exhibition in Rome in 1959, of “The Most Beautiful Women of Rome”, catapulted him to international recognition. In New York, he designed celebrity mannequins for the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue. The depicted “New York's high-born, wealthy jet-setters” included Louise Savitt, Baby Jane Holzer and Wendy Vanderbilt. He is acknowledged for his sensitivity to the different lands he had been inspired by, from the primitive backdrops of Greek Mythology to the botanical lushness of Mexico, Italy, Greece and the Southern United States. He established his own line of wallpapers and fabrics, receiving praise for his interior design of suites at the historic Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Aversa was collected by actresses Katherine Hepburn and Agnes Moorehead; diplomat and prominent New York socialite, Francis Kellogg; gallery owner, Julius Fleischmann; society songstress and millionaire industrialist, Mr. & Mrs. David Muss; and American songwriter, Jule Styne. He was also collected by various Italian nobility, Count and Countess Scribani Rossi from Rome, Principessa Niky Boncompagni, and Countess Alicia Paolozzi from Rome. The arrival of Piero in Mykonos, Greece and opening of his bar in the early 70's began a somewhat historical era for the gay community of the time. His work has a Surrealist quality that reminds me of Van Eno another Key West art...
