About the Item
Signed middle right with monogram, 'P.T.'; additionally signed verso, dated 1974 and titled 'UCLA Dance Class'; accompanied by artist's business card.
After winning London County Council Art Scholarship Awards, Pearl Took studied at Skipton Art School (1943-7) and, subsequently, at Sir John Cass College (1947-9). Aftermoving to Pasadena, California in 1957 with her family, Took began an active career as an artist. In 1961, she was appointed an art at Pasadena City College and Glendale College. She later furthered her studies at California State College, Los Angeles, the Art Center of Design and the Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design. Over the course of a long career, Took exhibited widely and with success, both in solo and group exhibitions, and was the recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards.
