About the Item
A historical woman sits reading in a chair with her face turned away from the viewer. Her shoes sit nearby, alongside a chair with a bowl of apples and a chest. Only a sliver of light shines through the windows into the house as she reads alone.
Painted after the classic Pieter de Hooch "Reading Woman" image by an unknown artist. See detail images for any known information. The quality and condition of the canvas and surface of the painting would suggest it was painted in the 20th century rather than the original era of de Hooch. The ornate gold frame is quite heavy, in good condition, showing some normal wear.
