About the Item
Polyak Alexander Emelyanovich - soviet and ukrainian painter.
Was born in Chernigov in 1944.
In 1971 he graduated from the Moscow University of Arts named after N. K. Krupskaya, specialty "Painting". He was fond of modernism, figurative abstraction.
He worked as a graphic designer (Smolensk).
2 paintings of the artist were presented at the famous "Bulldozer Exhibition" on September 15, 1974 on the outskirts of Moscow in Belyaevo.
He was a member of the underground art group "Association of Artists of Chernigov".
For "Anti-Soviet propaganda and storage of Anti-Soviet literature" in 1975 he was arrested and spent 10 months in prison.
Subsequently he worked as an artist-restorer, painted Orthodox churches (in Smolensk, Chernigov).
His paintings are stored in Ukrainian museums and private collections around the world.
