About the Item

ENTANGLED (2014) by Sasan Nasernia Acrylic on Canvas Unique Signed lower left corner 130 x 190 x 3,5 cm (51,19 x 74,81 x 1,38 inches) (H x W x D) «Entangled» is an original artworkt by Sasan Nasernia from the Series ‘’Talismania’’. Born in Tehran in 1974, Sasan Nasernia began his career as a calligrapher and typography artist. With a BFA from Azad Art University of Tehran, he has expanded his practice to include painting, print, digital work, and installations, exploring different avenues in Persian and Arabic classical and modern calligraphy. Inspired by philosophical notions such as chaos vs. cosmos, impermanence, and the ideas of modern physics, Nasernia sees the world as a gigantic code upon which the spoken and written word has a primordial influence. He uses letterforms as building blocks for his figurative pieces, which are rooted in traditional Persian paintings and iconography. His signature calligraphy style, “Crazy Kufic,” is a personal journey to find new ways to create letterforms while deconstructing the rules of Arabic and Persian calligraphy. This style emphasizes the fluidity and uncertainty in our natural and extraterrestrial world. Sasan Nasernia's artworks has been featured in solo and group shows throughout the Middle East, the United States, and the UK, and continues to push the boundaries of his practice to create thought-provoking and visually captivating pieces.

"Entangled" Abstract painting 47" x 31.5" inch by Maged Mikhail
By Maged Mekhail
Located in Culver City, CA
"Entangled" Abstract painting 47" x 31.5" inch by Maged Mikhail ARTIST BIO: Maged Mikhail was born in the Upper Egyptian city of Sohag in 1982. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo, to graduate in 2004 with a major in Monumental Sculpture. His apprenticeship with the renowned Artist, Adam Henein, for nearly six years after graduation, was a cornerstone in his artistic development. He then received the Ministry of Culture’s full production sponsorship in the period between 2008 and 2011. During that time, he worked with different materials, sculpting in plaster, bronze, and stone, as well as producing ink drawings on paper. To this day, he works with all these mediums. Mikhail’s work focuses on ancient civilizations and collective heritage and seeks to understand their connection with everyday contemporary life. This direction began to take shape in his work starting in 2013. By 2016 he had developed an approach to Ancient Egyptian art and found his way of transforming it into abstract and contemporary sculpture. His current influences are two main elements: Architecture (Ancient Egyptian, Coptic, and Islamic) and Hieroglyphic symbols. The influence of architecture can be seen in the clean, geometric lines of his compositions and also in his approach with monumental pieces of public art. The Hieroglyphics are integrated into Mikhail’s work as abstracted sculptural interpretations. A sculpture then becomes a word to be both reads and viewed as an image. 2004 Bachelor of Fine Arts, Cairo, Egypt 2005-2010 Studied Sculpture under Egyptian Artist Adam Henein 2008 -2011 Egyptian Ministry of Culture Scholarship Exhibitions 2020 Solo exhibition, Karim Francis Gallery...

Arab Spring - large, dynamic, narrative, surrealist abstract, acrylic on canvas
By Gregor Hiltner
Located in Bloomfield, ON
Inspired by drawings made by children, Hiltner has created a chaotic narrative of surreal figures and animals drawn in red acrylic across an expanse of raw canvas in this over 6 feet wide painting. A central palm tree in red outline with black leaves divides the pyramidal composition that is completed with select sections painted in with red, turquoise, white and periwinkle. The sky is brushed, bright yellow. This work is aptly titled referring to a series of protests that occurred in the Middle East and North Africa that began in 2010 and became known as the Arab Spring...

A sincere dream Mohammad Ariyaei Contemporary Iranian art painting oriental art
By Mohammad Ariyaei
Located in Paris, FR
Acrylic paint on paper Hand-signed by the artist Unique work THE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS OF MOHAMMAD ARIYAEI " Gentleness and oriental wisdom follow the supercharged bubbling to which we were accustomed from the previous deliberately art brut exhibition by Mohammad ARIYAEI. The Iranian painter's imagination moves serenely from the wildest frenzy to the meditative calm of great, fabulous stories. The artist then took pleasure in pouring the volcanic torrent of his barbaric figures onto the delicate latticework with which he is accustomed to lining his backgrounds with the patience of an illuminating monk. Already sweetness and paroxysm coexisted. Now gentleness wins. The trained imagination of the painter, yet spontaneously bubbling, by instinct as much as by erudition, has no difficulty in reconnecting with the abundant oriental tradition of the thousand and one nights, which, like a long underground river, resurfaces at the light of his painting. Spring renewal of traditions still alive. Systematic filling of space, a sort of oriental version of the Riches Heures...
