"Serenity" (2024) by Sheri Farabaugh (United States Based) is a beautiful handmade still life oil painting that depicts a bundle of lotus flowers and pads resting in a clear blue pond.
Sheri Farabaugh began painting after successful careers in tax accounting and biochemistry. A love of drawing and painting as a child stayed with Farabaugh until time permitted, and from the moment she took her first class as an early retiree, she was forever committed to being the best artist she could be. It is a bit of magic that with nothing but a squeeze of paint and some good brushes, you can tell a story. Finding beauty in the details has led her to a realistic style and is drawn to bold values and intricate patterns. Farabaugh paints many subjects, but a fascination with the reflections and patterns of moving water led her to paint rivers, lakes, ponds, and puddles of the West and Midwest.
Sheri Farabaugh's paintings have received many awards and recognition and have been juried into numerous local and national exhibitions. Her work has been featured in Southwest Art Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine, and many others. She has studied with Mark Daily, Kevin Wechbach, Kim English, Doug Dawson, and Michelle Torrez among others.
Oil painter Sheri Farabaugh brings a unique analytical approach to realistic landscape and water studies, drawing from her background in scientific research and financial analysis. The artist transitioned to full-time painting following retirement from careers in biochemistry and certified public accounting, beginning formal art training at the Art Students League of Denver and through intensive study with established painters. Her subjects frequently feature water elements—from rushing streams to quiet pond reflections—inspired by formative experiences at her family's Wisconsin lake cottage.
