The Post described the cover as follows: "Having found the setting he wanted for his circus-theme cover painting - on the Brotherton farm near Westport, Connecticut- Stevan Dohanos began rigging up a beam for the farm boy to do his tightwire act on. While working, he noticed a hen hanging around. When he returned three days later with a borrowed farm boy to pose for him - Sandy Frey of Westport- he found that two fresh eggs had been deposited in the hayloft at one end of the beam. Dohanos deposited the eggs gently in his picture, reasoning that the hen...wanted to get on the cover of the Post, but was too bashful to pose, and had done it with eggs."

Stevan Dohanos
Stevan Dohanos was born in the steel mill town of Lorain, Ohio, on May 18, 1907. Dohanos studied at the Cleveland School of the Arts. He is best known for the covers, more than 100, he painted for The Saturday Evening Post magazine during the 1940s and 1950s. His work appeared frequently on its covers. Most of his illustrations depicted common scenes of everyday post-war American life, such as a mobile home complete with pink flamingo, a gas station attendant inflating a child's toy or a souped-up motorcycle in the owner's driveway. His works are often compared to those of Norman Rockwell. Dohanos was influenced by The Eight namely Henri, Sloan, Glackens, Shinn, Prendergast, Davies, Lawson and Luks. During the 1960s, his designs were used on 25 postage stamps. From 1961–63, he served as a President of the Society of Illustrators and in 1971 was elected to the Society's Hall of Fame. He was a founder of the Famous Artists School in Westport. Dohanos died on July 2, 1994, in Westport, Connecticut.

Andrzej Malinowski was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1947. He worked as artist, painter, graphic designer, illustrator, and poster creator. He resides and works in France.
In his youth, Andrzej Malinowski drew inspiration from the works of Vermeer and Rembrandt. In 1973, he graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the Illustration Department. After obtaining his diploma, he moved to Paris, where he continues to live and create. In 1982, he was granted French citizenship.
During the initial period of his stay in France, Malinowski was engaged in artistic direction, creating audiovisual presentations, television programs, graphics, illustrations, and posters. During this time, he won awards in the field of posters and illustrations. In 1977, he received the First Prize for the poster for the film The Exorcist at the Deauville Film Festival, as reported, among others, by French newspaper Le Parisien.
