In "Immateriality", Steven H. Rehfeld constructs a world suspended between memory and ruin. Ghostly and incomplete, classical figures emerge from architectural fragments that suggest collapse or erasure. The geometry of temples and corridors dissolves into washes of blue, like sky bleeding into marble. There’s a haunting tension between presence and absence, structure and void. Rehfeld isn't painting a scene; he’s questioning what remains when time, body, and meaning begin to fade. The result is both quiet and unsettling, like a dream half-remembered.
About the Artist:
With a profound grasp of the foundational elements of art, Rehfeld's work is a testament to his unmatched prowess and relentless pursuit of excellence in the art world. Born in San Francisco in October 1954, Steven H. Rehfeld embarked on his artistic journey influenced by the diverse cultural backdrop of the Bay Area. Educated at the College of San Mateo and the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he majored in Studio Art, Rehfeld refined his eclectic style, harmoniously blending abstract art with realism. "First and foremost, I go beyond any artist ever," Rehfeld asserts, reflecting his deep understanding of art's foundation, akin to the scientific precision of the periodic table. This comparison underlines his approach to art as a rigorous discipline where each element is as crucial as a chemical compound in a meticulously crafted formula.

Steven H. Rehfeld
Steven H. Rehfeld, a California artist, holds a B.A. in studio art from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He draws inspiration from the 'Outsiders' school of art that originated in 19th-century France, known as the Naïve movement. Also referred to as the Naïve or Primitive art movement, was comprised of artists with no formal art training who discovered their talent and began painting. Many of these artists came from challenging backgrounds, and their raw talent remained untapped until they expressed themselves through art. The movement quickly gained prominence and spread worldwide. Steven Rehfeld's artistic style has evolved beyond the Naïve movement, incorporating earth elements to create a basic and raw interpretation of his artistic message. Artist Statement "My oil, acrylic, and mixed media paintings explore the dynamic relationship between progressiveness and tradition, personal and cultural experiences, and the interplay between the human form and iconography. Through these explorations, I engage in a dialogue that reveals how the intangible influences the material world. Color contrast forms, negative/positive space, and visual kinetic energy shape these artistic relationships. Additionally, I fuse abstract art with elements of realism to create a unique artistic experience." Enigma - Surreal Scene With Figure in Muted Greys, Original Oil on Canvas Framed
By John Seubert
Located in Chicago, IL
An enigma by definition is a person or thing that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand. Such is the subject matter of John Seubert, aka John Grey's painting of the same name. The sphynx-like figure stares out at the viewer holding what appears to be a large bowl. The surreal scene is framed in a repurposed frame that the artist has distressed and painted. It measures 25.5h x 21.5w inches.

John Seubert
b. 1958, Chicago, IL
In the early Nineties, John Seubert was living in a former hotel in a high-rise building on St. James Place in Chicago. The apartment was tiny, as hotel rooms tend to be, and clad with paper-thin walls allowing sound to pass from one apartment to the other. At the time, John’s artwork consisted of pounding copper sheets into tables which was a noisy endeavor to say the least. Following several noise complaints from the neighbors, John had a dream that he was living in a ramshackle house but with plenty of room to work and no attached neighbors. The following day after lunching at the McDonalds in Lincoln Park, John wandered the neighborhood a came upon a shabby, falling-down old Victorian house. He located the real estate agent, put in an offer, and weeks later was pushing a shopping cart full of his belongings to his new home.
This 144-year-old Painted Lady provided a blank canvas for this inimitable artist. For many years the house remained so empty that John was able to ride his Japanese fold up bike throughout the 1st floor. “Some people want to have sex...

Artist's Commentary:
"When I painted this piece my intention was not to create a face. I just wanted to paint and use the time to relax and release the days tension. With this piece when you change the angle you might be able to see another bizarre abstract face. One face is of a lady and the other is of a bearded man! It's a definitely a great conversational piece!"
About the Artist:
Karen Reid is an artist known as K.Marie. She is originally from London, England and has been living in the United States for over twenty years. She now resides in Florida with her two daughters. Karen grew up in a historical environment exposed to a fusion of all kinds of art forms like music, dance, sculptures, and paintings. Using her gift, she took part in dance, singing, and poetry, but the only thing she did not partake in was painting and drawing. She appreciated it but she never believed that it was an ability she had. Fast-forward just last year May 2021 her friend - artist Shante Brooks gave her art materials and encouraged her to paint. Facing her fears, she painted and grew more comfortable as time went on and was able to turn a blank canvas into a masterpiece. Karen has stated that she is inspired by every aspect of her life - her paintings are a true and full expression of her in art form. Just this year she was invited to be featured as one of the artists at Crossroads Talent Florida and Art...
