About the Item

Steven H. Rehfeld (American, born 1954) "San Francisco" 2023 Oil Paint, Canvas, Stretcher Bars The artist signed the back of the painting. "San Francisco" by Steven H. Rehfeld offers a dynamic fusion of figurative and abstract elements, drawing the viewer into a narrative that is both ethereal and grounded. The central figure, a poised female form, floats effortlessly in the composition, evoking both vulnerability and strength. The use of gray tones for the figure contrasts sharply with the vibrant pops of color from the geometric shapes at the bottom of the canvas—bold oranges, reds, and yellows, reminiscent of the city's iconic landmarks. About the Artist: With a profound grasp on the foundational elements of art, Rehfeld's work is a testament to his unmatched prowess and his relentless pursuit of excellence in the art world. Born in San Francisco in October 1954, Steven H. Rehfeld embarked on his artistic journey influenced by the diverse cultural backdrop of the Bay Area. Educated at the College of San Mateo and the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he majored in Studio Art, Rehfeld refined his eclectic style, harmoniously blending abstract art with realism. "First and foremost, I go beyond any artist ever," Rehfeld asserts, reflecting his deep understanding of art's foundation akin to the scientific precision of the periodic table. This comparison underlines his approach to art as a rigorous discipline where each element is as crucial as a chemical compound in a meticulously crafted formula.
