Between Us Oil Painting on Canvas Girls
Introduction: Step into the intriguing world of artist Suzan Schuttelaar and be enchanted by her versatile creations. With her studio on the edge of the historic center of Gouda, Schuttelaar takes you on an artistic journey full of life-size sculptures, paintings and compelling portraits. Discover how she uses art as a means to bring the hidden to the surface, and how she puts her own stamp on the genre of portrait painting. Get to know this talented artist and be inspired by her unique vision.
A look inside the studio: When you enter Schuttelaar's studio, you are immediately surrounded by her impressive works. Life-size sculptures, paintings and portraits fill the space. Everything seems hidden or connected by a network of threads. It is a place where the investigation into what is hidden beneath the skin is central. Schuttelaar not only wants her art to look visually attractive, but also to bring something to the surface. It is a spatial, conceptual and intensive process in which she scrapes, untangles and confronts. She masters various genres, but her true passion lies in creating lifelike sculptures of human figures.
The story behind each work: For Schuttelaar, every individual is a source of inspiration. Every head and body has its own unique expression and past. With each work she tries to tell a story, based on her personal interpretation. People play a central role in her art. It goes beyond a simple portrait; it is an attempt to bring the inner self of the person portrayed to life. Her art is more than just a visual representation; it is a challenge to make and often a long and physically exhausting process. Schuttelaar constantly challenges herself to make art that has a deeper meaning and touches the viewer.
An impressive resume: Suzan Schuttelaar has exhibited her artworks at various locations in the Netherlands and abroad. Her work has been on display at the Museum Gouda, where she even won the audience award. She has also participated in group exhibitions and solo exhibitions in renowned galleries and museums. Her art has received recognition from both the public and the art community. She also participated twice in the television program `Sterren op het doek` and Huub Stapel and Tjitske Reidinga chose her portrait.
Education
The evolution of her work: Schuttelaar's artistic journey began with her education at the Grafisch Lyceum in Utrecht. She then successfully completed the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where she found her place. During her career, she has developed from a painter who worked according to classical principles to an artist who goes her own way. Her work is a fusion of classical painting principles and the loose touch of impressionism. She has left the flat surface behind and has evolved into spatial art. With her life-size papier-mâché sculptures, she often combines painting and sculpture.

Entanglement - Original Oil Painting of Intertwined Female Figures Floating
By Bruno Surdo
Located in Chicago, IL
This dynamic and masterful painting of two intertwined figures floating in an open space is an excellent example of the artist's talent with the human figure. A textured impasto background surrounds the figures who float, eyes closed, in a fetal state. Bruno Surdo is one of few artists combine traditional figurative technique with a contemporary interpretation to great effect.
