About the Item
I believe this powerful painting is by the very talented Philippines artist Virgilio Daclan. He was born in 1920 in Cebu city. He studied art in 1951 at the UP school of fine arts. The movement of the figures reminds me of Thomas Hart Benton. It is an oil on board measuring 20 inches wide by 16 high. What appears to be the original frame, measures 25 inches wide by 20 1/2 high. His best works seem to rarely come on the market and Philippine art is very hot right now!
