In the foreground we see dense vegetation where the figure of a child shines through, holding a small vine shoot and looking toward cupid riding a merman.
Cupid is depicted with an iron behind his back and a cross in his hand.
Serving as a backdrop on the left side is a kind of natural arch wrapped in greenery.
Coeval frame.
Condition: Very good Condition.
Provenance: 19th-century France.
