Grande e bel dipinto a grisaglia italiano a tema mitologico di gusto rinascimentale, seconda metà del XVIII secolo.
Dipinto a olio su tela, tono su tono con la tecnica della grisaglia, raffigura una scena mitologica con Tritoni e Nereidi, come quelle che decoravano nel Cinquecento le stanze dei palazzi nobiliari arredate come grotte fantastiche. Il genere, estremamente decorativo, veniva usato sia in pittura che in scultura e lo ritroviamo ad esempio nelle bellissime fontane che adornano piazza Navona a Roma.
Buono stato di conservazione, la tela è priva di cornice perchè non veniva usata su questi pannelli di tipo decorativo.
