The large scene depicts Mary, already assumed into heaven and supported on the clouds by little angels, receiving the Crown by the most holy Trinity.
Such a coronation expresses the apotheosis of Mary, who becoming "Queen of Heaven" absolves itself as a go-between between the earth, Humanity, and Heaven, Divinity: what is not given to man to see becomes possible through Mary who in this glorification is more than ever the tenacious thread that binds us to the Most High, true "gateway to heaven," as defined by the Church Fathers.
Restored and re-tinted, the painting is presented in an early 20th-century frame.
