A brilliantly painted mid century figurative portrait of 2 priests, executed in oil onto canvas.
Working with a restrained and muted colour palette, the artist has flattened the respective forms, reducing them down to blocks of contrasting shades. Despite the minor tonal differences, there is a wonderful sense of depth within the picture. The artist has included a shadow in sepia in the background. This figurative painting certainly has a timeless quality to it.
This oil on canvas is housed in a beautiful dark wood frame that has an inner gilt window which illuminates the painting within it. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
