The artist comments: “I love flowers dearly. I like going to a flower shop and choosing blooms, making flower arrangements or simply getting the seasonal ones. This inspires me and adds colour to my life, especially on gloomy days. Freesia is one of my favourite flowers: it’s light and delicate, just like the emotion instilled in this oil study. I painted this work swiftly, focusing on conveying the mood without obstructing it with the unnecessary details.”
Light and air infuse all Valeria's paintings, immediately evoking the atmosphere of France and Italy, to which she made extended visits. Works of Joaquín Sorolla, Édouard Vuillard and the late work of Claude Monet played a part in Valeria's subtle palette and light yet dynamic brushwork.
Valeria Privalikhina was born in a small town in Siberia to a family of artists and has dedicated most of her life to painting. To achieve the effortless style she possesses today, she underwent 9 years of professional training, including the rigorous 6-year program at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia. She graduated in 2019 with a diploma project dedicated to Claude Monet.
